Nai Lert Park, Bangkok, Thailand

2015

The project is intended to align with the well-preserved Nai Lert Heritage Home, adjacent to this area. The structural system of a traditional Thai architecture is used to develop form and massing including the use of transparent polycarbonate sheets in some parts of the roof for a modernized look. The layout is developed through positive-negative spaces of the existing site. The walkway that leads users into the museum on the left and event hall on the right is made of rammed earth. The layers of this earth wall is specifically excavated from the site itself, enhancing the authenticity of its historical roots.
