How dark does private space need to be?

How light does public space require?

The main idea is to experiment light and shadow effects that create tranquillity and dimness in interior spaces. It is inspired from Ayutthaya’s religious spatial ambience that used light and shadow to generate a sense of spirituality.

A 30x30 cm. square block is used as a facade prototype. Each block varies by the void that allows sunlight to penetrate into the interior space, depending on each functional use. The bigger void, the brighter public space. The smaller void, the dimmer private space. This unit is made from foam concrete. Its lightness can be composition over one another easily, thus, it is well-suited for the weakened condition of the existing structures.
